Black Rock City is planned and operated using precise mapping data gathered and processed after the Golden Spike is set at the center of the city. This dataset is exported from that mapping operation and provides the GPS locations of streets, trash fence, and points of interest in the city.
Data is posted to GitHub when it is made available: https://github.com/burningmantech/innovate-GIS-data
Data Provided in GeoJSON:
- Street Outlines
- Street Centerlines
- Portable Toilets
- City Outline (trash fence)
- Plazas
- City Blocks
- Deep-Playa Music Zone (DMZ)
- Points of Interest (CPNs)
The Golden Spike is a physical stake that establishes the center most point of Black Rock City. From this coordinate, the layout of city streets and locations of key installations are mapped. We will provide a more accurate map in KML and GeoJSON formats the first week of July.
