Mesh messaging without Wifi/Internet with BurningMesh

Last year 1,200 people brought their long-range radio (LORA) nodes to set-up a messaging service on the Playa. It works without Wifi/Internet. The mesh moved 28,000 messages on Tuesday. It even worked to the people stuck in line when the gate was closed for storms. This kind of messaging works with your mobile phone and a small piece of hardware called a node, typically less than $30. The free software and recommended hardware is available at burningmesh.org
